A Showcase of Vibrant Graphic Artists

T.G.I.F., indeed! The weekend is just a day away and we here at FYC (not to be mistaken for FYCo, for Fuel Your Coding, which is the acronym for their site around the FUEL offices ;)) wanted to send you into the weekend with a little inspiration to carry you through til Monday. We have been contacted recently by some very talented folks, and while we cannot feature everyone in a single post, we did want to start shining our spotlight on a few of them here and there. So we gathered a few stylistically similar artists together that we have been blown away by their works to showcase. And by ‘stylistically similar’ we mean, their styles all kick ass! Penguin Books - Designer Coralle Bickford-Smith

They say don't judge a book by its cover.... I say why the hell not! Below the simplicity of treatment is perfect and makes the books very 'pickable' (is that a real word?)

Beautiful Work of Vanila BCN

Vanila Barcelona or Vanila BCN is the design studio of two very talented graphic designers from Spain, Carlos Jimenez and Roger Gual. They met when they were studying graphic design at Elisava Design School and they have been working together since them. From his clients we can tell that it's been working pretty well so far, especially for the type of work with beautiful typographies with that hand drawing feel.

Design Inspiration: Pattern-Style Drawings & Busy Illustrations

The crossover between line illustrations and patterns is a trend that’s been developing for a few years. It’s playful, and frequently naive in style. What’s especially interesting is how this style of illustration is successfully being applied across a broad range of design media, from murals and wallpaper to packaging, from t-shirt designs to the web.

This collection of “busy” or pattern-style illustrations takes in everything from major product campaigns to doodles. The beauty of this style is that it can be built up through many layers of digital graphics, or left as a simple line drawing, while retaining its charm and irreverence. Which pieces do you think are the most effective?
